Office Tour

As my long term patients may remember, my office was originally very barebones.  I bought all the medical equipment I needed from a doctor who was leaving private practice, but the rest of the set up was mostly furniture from my house.  I worked on my personal laptop set on an instrument stand.

My, how things have changed!  Whenever I have a busy month, I reward myself with a small improvement.  A screen beside the exam table.  “New” furniture from Craigslist.  I had to upgrade my computer for the EMR to continue to work on it…a refurbished desktop cost $1000 less than a comparable laptop so now I even have a desk.  I realized I didn’t need a second exam room (which had really become a junk room) so I’ve set up a family room.  The entryway is now really just an entryway.  I mean, I have chairs there for someone who is desperate, but the best place to sit if you arrive early is in the family room.  Way more comfortable!

Entryway first:

The entryway has music for privacy reasons, the family room is usually quieter, so if you come early wait in there

The family room is a comfortable space for adults or kids...even if you are alone, please sit down with a book (or try out the toys...)

Now we’ll move into the main room.  We mostly sit and chat so I’ll show that part of the room first:

The counter and the space behind the screen has the medical stuff.  And a watering can for the plants.

Now it's looking a little more like a doctor's office...

And finally, the exam table.

And finally, the exam table.

Thanks for taking a tour with me!  I’m pretty happy with how it’s turning out.  I want my office to be a friendly place, not intimidating at all, a place people feel comfortable coming.
